Also we survived Christmas!
Saturday before Christmas my college roomie Jeannie and her husband Nick stopped by briefly to meet Colin and bring him a gift. I hadn't seen them since I was about 9 weeks pregnant; they've lived in Europe since then!
We spent the Sunday before Christmas with my mom's side of the family. Everyone was there (well, almost everyone). Colin got 2 super amazing presents from his great-grandpa: a handmade booster seat with his name in it, as well as a gorgeous toy chest. We don't have either here at the house because they wouldn't fit in our car, but I'll post pictures once they arrive via my parents.
On Christmas Eve, we went to church, where we portrayed Joseph, Mary, and Jesus. There wasn't a whole lot to this other than wearing headdresses and standing in front of the congregation holding Colin while everyone sang Christmas carols. Then Peter had to stay at church until about midnight, while Colin and I came home and went to bed!
Christmas day we went to my parents' house, had a Skype date with Peter's family, then went to visit my dad's side of the family. Colin wasn't quite as sociable as he had been for the Macy side, but he still got to meet a lot of family members he hadn't met before. Then we returned back to my parents' house, and Colin got some new toys. He got to meet his giant bear from Grandmom, which also hasn't made its' way back to our house because there was NO room in the car. He got a Rody rocking horse and a play table from Grandma and Grandpa, and a large addition to his wardrobe from Aunt Casie.
On the 26th, we were snowed in for the day, and today (the 27th) we finally took him outside briefly to see the snow and wear his cute snow suit.
Watching Men in Black 3 in 3D at my parents'. Colin was too tired to care.
Testing out his snowsuit and new hat.
We got at least 9 inches of snow.
Peter talking to Colin about throwing snowballs.
Swaddling update: Colin's rolling has been sporadic. Some days, he rolls every time he touches the floor. Other days, he never tries. We were leaving one arm out at naps, and he was doing great. Last Tuesday night, he slept fully swaddled, and it was awful. Up every hour at least once. So the next night we figured it couldn't be any worse, so we left one arm out. It was only slightly better. But we kept going with it. He managed to give us 2-3 hour stretches, but he was harder to settle back down, when it used to only take us putting his pacifier in and rubbing his tummy. It wasn't getting much better than a 3 hour stretch, so we tried going back to both arms down. That didn't help either, same results. We're kind of hoping that he's just going through a phase where he's waking up more often at night. For now, we're just trying to get any semblance of sleep.
Finally, to end this long post, a story. This blog is called 2 corgis and a baby, and it's been a lot of baby lately. Ella put an end to that on Christmas Eve. We made salt ornaments from Colin for the grandparents (Grandmom, yours is coming) and for us. I set out the one for my parents with their gifts while we were getting ready for church. At some point, I looked down and said, "Where did the ornament go?" Peter was holding Colin on the couch, and he didn't know. Then I knew. "Ella!" I went running for the front room, where "her" chair is, and she was turning away from me, so I could tell she had taken the ornament. Then she started puking Exorcist style everywhere. So all of this time, I keep saying, "No, no, no, no! No! No!" And Peter is yelling, "What?!? What?? What??" Eventually she stopped (there was a cup of salt for 4 ornaments in that mixture), and I managed to get the remains of the ornament.
That used to say Christmas 2012.
It was not pretty, and there was a lot to clean up. Thankfully, she got it out of her system, and she was fine after that. But that was fun, 12 minutes before we had to leave for church. At least we had an extra ornament.
Sometime, you should receive...New Year's cards from us. We're still waiting on hard copies of the Christmas pictures of Colin.
