Developmentally: he's 35.5 inches tall, so he may end up taller than me (based on that whole 2x your height at age 2 thing). He's just shy of 30 pounds and still has a big head. Overall, he's between the 65th and 80th percentiles. He has one 2-year molar working its way in, but it doesn't seem to be bothering him too much.
Last year, he said 3 words on his birthday. This year, I couldn't begin to count. He's bossy (although he gets that honestly). He speaks in 4-5 word sentences, loves to sing and read, still enjoys running fast. He's a pretty good eater--he ate chicken for the first time in about 9 months last week. We were surprised, it's one of the weird things he doesn't like to eat, especially since we eat a lot of chicken. He's in a "pre-school" room at daycare, where he's thriving. We've seen lots of language improvements since he's been there.
He's slowly working on potty training. I think we might have missed our window when we went to the beach, and he stopped showing signs of being ready in the weeks that followed. Then, one day he said he wanted to sit on the potty and just went. And then did it again. And again. Then the next day, nothing. So we go back and forth. We tried to push it hard one weekend, and he pushed back a little, so we stopped. I don't want him to avoid it. He likes sitting on the toilet before bathtime and often goes. They're working with him at daycare, so that helps as well.
He's pushing away his nap slowly. At home and daycare, we're down to about an hour nap. Sometimes he doesn't nap at daycare. I haven't seen it negatively affect his behavior in the evenings, and he doesn't seem tired earlier, so that's good.
We have loved watching his personality to develop and continue to be impressed with all of his skills--physical, cognitive, emotional. He reminds me a lot of me as a child (which means he'll probably be a challenge!) He loves to learn, and I find that to be really exciting. I hope his love for books continues.
Onto pictures. I hope you like pictures of Colin and Penny, because it's hard to get one without the other sometimes.

We took a day off from work to spend at the apple orchard picking raspberries and apples. We had to work for the raspberries, as the cool summer here led to fewer raspberries than usual.
It did occasionally get warm enough to break out the pool. Colin shared water with Penny.
But she wanted more.
So Colin helped her in.
And threw water at us.
And swam with the dog.
My parents have no pictures of me sitting in my baby pool. I always stood. Colin seems to share this feeling.
A little closer to what Penny looks like now. She's crazy.
But boy, does she love Colin.

It's been a great second year, and the third looks to be even busier and crazier. School is back in session, and Peter and I are already racing through our semesters. It will be Fall Break before we know it (hopefully)!
