On Father's Day, Claire turned 2 months old. She was not particularly impressed.
We couldn't convince Colin to come and participate in the pictures, because he was watching Cars for the 90th time in a row. More on that later.
Claire is just shy of 24" (95%) and just shy of 12 pounds (75%)...she's getting long and filling out a lot. All of her onesies, shirts, and dresses in 0-3 fit really well. Pants/shorts not as much. She has chicken legs and a small waist. She still loves to eat and sleep. We've been putting her down for bed around 10:30 (when we go to bed), and she usually wakes up to eat somewhere between 4-5am, then goes back to sleep for a little while longer. On Father's Day, she surprisingly went back to sleep at 6am until 9am, so Peter got lots of good sleep. We get some smiles for her after she eats and has a clean diaper. She hates tummy time, but unfortunately for her, I know how good it is for her, so she has to do it anyway. She loves bathtime though. She's very interested in watching Colin, if he holds still long enough for her to watch him. She's cooing more, and is more interactive with us.
Why would Colin not come up for pictures? Because he was watching Cars for the 90th time. Why? Because he's finally potty-trained! About three weeks ago, we decided that anytime he was at home, he would be in underwear (or nothing). So we ended up with moments like this:
Me, singing to Claire who was screaming during tummy time, while Colin lays on top of me pants-less.
We had been afraid to send him to daycare in underwear...mostly for fear of the fact that his teachers would be changing him frequently. He was still needing lots of prompts to remember to go, and he was still a little hesitant to do #2. We told him if he did go #2, he could watch a movie (we don't let him watch much TV, so this is very exciting to him). He finally did it...and he chose to watch Cars. And now he refuses anything else. Granted, we're now spacing out the movie-watching, but it's still the only one he will pick. He's finally telling us when he needs to go, and he hasn't had any accidents in a week and a half. Now if only he wouldn't require us to come with him all the time...
Other things we've been up to...visiting with my parents, after they came back from a 2-week vacation to Ireland, having Claire meet my mom's side of the family, as well as my dad's mom. Colin kept calling Great-Grandma "Aunt-Grandma." Close enough, I suppose. We took Colin to a Touch-A-Truck event, since he's so interested in busses, trucks, anything that moves.
More proof of this would be when we went to the PBS Kids in the Park event, where all of the characters from PBS Kids shows were there to meet. There were blow-up slides and bounce houses, and all kind of crafts and things for the kids to do. Colin spent the whole time at the firetruck. He kind of glanced at Daniel Tiger, and that's all we got from him.
Peter has just over a week left at home with Claire and me...then we're on our own. We've got a week to figure out how to sleep somewhere other than in my arms, while I walk through the house, or after being vigorously bounced in the bouncer.
Updates to come with weight and height!
